Since 1952, Micron Manufacturing Company has grown from its humble beginnings as a screw machine shop to an award-winning leader of precision machined components. History

Founded in 1952 by Ed Preston, Micron Manufacturing began as a screw machine shop. Today, led by Ed’s son Mike Preston, Micron is one of the industry’s most reliable CNC machining companies for precision components, assemblies and subassemblies.

Micron Manufacturing is a family-owned, ISO-9001 Registered, CNC machine shop known for excellence it’s responsiveness to its customers and its lean production. Our 70 years of operation have brought us from the horse-and-buggy days of screw machines to the modern, systems-oriented world of American manufacturing in the present day. As a small business with less than 50 employees, Micron prides itself on maintaining a great company culture, a friendly work environment, and flexible schedules for our employees. Shipping and Receiving Specialist (Shipping Clerk) 

The shipping and receiving specialist (shipping clerk) is primarily responsible for preparing products for shipment to outside vendors and customers and coordinating the logistics of these shipments. In addition, the shipping clerk coordinates with the secondary operations and wash & pack departments to ensure timely preparation of goods for shipment. The role requires strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills. 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, package, and label outgoing shipments
  • Prepare shipping documents packets (pack lists, certifications, bills of lading)
  • Coordinate with parcel services, local delivery services, and LTL carriers to schedule pick-ups and deliveries
  • Receive shipments from vendor services
  • Receive POs in ERP (enterprise resource planning) system
  • Process returns
  • Report potential delays to production, customer service, and other relevant departments
  • Maintain inventory and update ERP system
  • Order shipping supplies
  • Assist with sorting and packaging parts
  • Manage schedule boards for secondary operations and vendors
  • Collect data on certain benchmarks including sort fallout, vendor performance, and on-time and late customer shipments

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to operate a forklift
  • Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or other related fields preferred
  • Ability to handle physical workload
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Strong detail and organizational skills
  • Basic computer, math
